Appello Internazionale per Ginevra II

Noi sosteniamo gli sforzi avviati per mettere fine alla guerra in Siria. Questa guerra sta continuando da quasi tre anni, causando la morte di migliaia di persone, creando altri milioni di profughi e la distruzione del paese. Per porre fine a questo conflitto speriamo che la Conferenza Ginevra II che si svolgerà il 22 gennaio 2014 risulti in una soluzione pacifica e permanente.

I curdi in Siria hanno sempre dichiarato il loro sostegno rispetto a tutti gli sforzi internazionali di questo genere. Il popolo curdo sta lottando per il proprio diritto a vivere liberamente la propria identità in una Siria democratica. I curdi nel Rojava (Kurdistan siriano) non si sono mai arresi di fronte alle persecuzioni ed ai massacri da parte del regime o da parte dei gruppi legati ad Al-Qaeda. I curdi vogliono vivere autonomamente in una Siria democratica, ugualitaria e giusta insieme a tutti i popoli ed a tutte le minoranze religiose del paese; la Siria rappresenta una realtà multiculturale, multi religiosa e multietnica.

Noi, accademici, politici, scienziati ed attivisti per i diritti umani firmatari del presente appello, crediamo che il popolo curdo debba essere rappresentato a Ginevra II da una delegazione dell’Alto Consiglio Curdo. L’Alto Consiglio è stato costituito l’anno scorso ed è rappresentativo di tutti i partiti e di tutte le istituzioni curde.

Noi crediamo che il popolo curdo debba essere rappresentato dall’Alto Consiglio Curdo in una conferenza internazionale con un significato di questa natura, nell’ambito della quale verrà determinato in modo diretto il futuro del popolo curdo. Solo allora Ginevra II potrà svolgere il suo legittimo ruolo nel garantire a tutti la desiderata pace.
