APPELLO URGENTE ALL’AZIONE: Manifestazione globale per la libertà e la ricostruzione di Kobane

La resistenza determinata degli uomini kurdi e delle donne kurde in quella regione di confine strategica che è il Rojava (Kurdistan occidentale in Siria), ha ispirato persone e governi in tutto il mondo quando l’assedio della città da parte di Stato Islamico (ISIS) è stato respinto con successo appena un anno fa. La loro lotta è diventata un simbolo della resistenza popolare contro la violenza senza pietà e le orrende atrocità commesse da ISIS.
In risposta, il 1 novembre 2014 è stato lanciato un appello urgente per una giornata globale di azione per Kobane e per l’umanità chiedendo a tutte e tutti di mostrare solidarietà con Kobane e di dare assistenza umanitaria e materiale.
In tutto il mondo centinaia di singole e singoli e di organizzazioni che rappresentano migliaia di persone hanno firmato quell’appello, comprese personalità di spicco come il Professor Noam Chomsky e l’Arcivescovo Desmond Tutu, che entrambi sono da molto tempo sostenitori della lotta kurda per l’autodeterminazione, che Premi Nobel come Adolfo Erez Esquivel e Jose Ramos-Horta, già presidente di Timor Est e Nora Cortinas, cofondatrice delle Madri della Plaza de Mayo in Argentina e la cantante palestinese Reem Kelani.
Tuttavia non c’è sostegno ufficiale, la logistica dell’invio di aiuti a Kobane è stata gravata da difficoltà insormontabili e la popolazione di Kobane ha continuato a soffrire e molte famiglie sono fuggite verso luoghi più sicuri. Per questo ora è ancora più urgente aprire un corridoio umanitario che vada dalla Turchia a Kobane per facilitare l’arrivo del flusso di aiuti nella città che sta ancora affrontando gli attacchi di ISIS.
Per questo va fatta pressione sul governo dell’AKP ad Ankara perché agisca immediatamente facendo passare forniture sanitarie essenziali, cibo e vestiario fino a Kobane.
Nonostante il violento attacco senza sosta da parte delle forze di ISIS negli ultimi mesi, Kobane è ancora in piedi, fiera e libera. La popolazione sta ancora facendo una fortissima resistenza ed è determinata a difendere la sua amministrazione di autogoverno, quella di uno dei tre cantoni dell’Amministrazione Autonoma Democratica del Rojava (Kurdistan occidentale, Siria) che sono laici, democratici, non settari e a favore dell’uguaglianza di genere.
La tragica verità è che la morte di un piccolo bambino kurdo, Alan Kurdi, il cui corpo è stato trascinato dalle correnti sulla spiaggia di Bodrum e ha sconvolto il mondo, non si sarebbe mai verificata se la popolazione di Kobane avesse ricevuto un’adeguata assistenza dalle organizzazioni internazionali un anno fa.
Ora è il tempo di aiutare Kobane e, nel farlo, di mostrare solidarietà alle forze che stanno lottando per una Siria libera, democratica e pacifica.
Ora è il tempo perché il mondo riconosca che l’autonomia democratica in Rojava e il “Modello Rojava” promette un futuro libero per tutti i popoli della Siria.
È il tempo di parlare di pace e di agire per la pace. Sostenere Kobane è sostenere la pace.
Invitiamo le persone in tutto il mondo a mostrare la propria solidarietà con Kobanê.
